About This Site
Jesus of Nazareth said, "Store up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where
the thief does not break in and the moth does not corrupt, for where your
treasure is, there will your heart be also" (Matt 6:19-21). He also said
that the eye is the light of the soul and reveals the darkness or light
within each of us (Matt 6:22). Truer words have seldom been spoken. The
eye captures and reveals much about our hearts and where our treasures
are truly at - what we see in our world is a reflection of the good and
evil that lives within us. This is why photography is such a powerful
medium.
Having been raised with an intimate connection to creation, I've come to
see the hand of God in its every detail - in deserted, wild open spaces
I've hiked into, in the power I've felt in the large salmon and steelhead
I've caught over the years, in the fierceness of the lions and leopards
I've encountered in Sub-Saharan Africa. These things and more speak to
me of the grace that has been bestowed on me by God - the treasures that
fill my own eyes. My images ar meant to capture these treasures and the
impact they have had on me to the glory of God. In that spirit, I offer
this site with my gallery of images. These images are both the statement
of my own gratitude, and a wake-up call. The natural world is both beautiful
and fragile - it has its limits which cannot be compromised any more than
those of its maker can be, and there are emotional, spiritual and physical
consequences for being glib about them. These images, and this site, are
offered in the hope that you will take as much joy from them as I had in
finding them and realizing the vision they represent. They are also offered
in the hope that they will move all who see them to give glory to the one
who created the natural world and each of us in His image, and make a
covenant to protect it for future generations. Enjoy, and thanks for
visiting my site!
User's Guide
Here are some guidelines and troubleshooting tips that should make the most of your visit to
this site.
-
The site has been tested for compliance with the following environments,
Windows 95/98/2000/XP: Internet Explorer 5.5+, Firefox 2+, Opera 7.0+, Netscape 6+
Mac OS 9.x/10: Firefox 2+, Netscape 6+, Safari
It should also work fine with any W3C compliant browsers, including those based on recent
versions of Mozilla or Gecko engines. Those of you with older browsers (e.g. IE 4.x, Netscape 4.x,
or earlier, or IE 5.2 on Mac OS) will have difficulties. Alas, this is unavoidable. The Internet
has progressed to where these older browsers are no longer being supported--either by their
manufacturers or the World Wide Web Commision (W3C)--and it is no longer practical for me to
support them in development. Fortunately, newer browsers are readily available for all platforms
and can be downloaded and installed for free. If you are using Windows 95/98/ME, Windows 2000, or Windows XP,
IE 5.0 or higher is native to your operating system and no further upgrade is necessary. Should
you need to upgrade, the latest versions of these browsers for all platforms can be downloaded
and installed for free from the following locations,
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6+ (Recommended)
Firefox 2+ (Recommended)
Netscape Navigator 6+ and higher<
Opera 7.x and higher
For those who do not wish to use Internet Explorer I recommend downloading and installing Firefox.
It's fully W3C compliant and renders sites beautifully on nearly every personal computing system.
It's also robust, fast, and on Macs it's far less fussy and and more feature-rich than Safari.
To find out what browser version you are running, go to Help > About Internet Explorer on your top
toolbar (in IE) or Help > About Netscape (in Netscape).

Unix Users: In the past many of you have had to contend with being limited to Netscape 4.x
and older Mozilla browsers. Thankfully, this is no longer the case. Recent versions of Netscape and
Opera are now available for Unix environments as follows,
FireFox 2+: Linux
Netscape 7.0: Linux, AIX
Opera 6.12: Linux, Solaris, BSD
As of this writing I have not tested my site on these platforms. But later versions of Opera and
Netscape are W3C compliant, and upgrading your browser to one of them should make my site fully
usable for your platform.

Javascript needs to be enabled for some of the site's funtionality to work properly. For newer
browsers running under their default settings this should not be an issue. But if you are uding
an older browser, or if you have disabled script access, you will need to re-enable it for these
features to work. This can be done in Internet Explorer 5+ under Tools > Internet Option > Security.

The site is best viewed at screen resolutions of 768x1024 or higher (on newer computers I recommend
1280x1024). Setting your screen resolution accordingly should provide the best visual presentation
for most monitors. You can set this in the Windows environment by going to Start > Settings >
Control Panel > Display, and then going to the Settings tab.

Gallery pages are populated with thumbnails which can be clicked to open a larger image in a new window.
My images may be displayed by their subject (e.g. landscapes, wildlife, etc.), the region where they were
taken, or the medium used (e.g. color, black & white, infrared or digital). These options are available
from the flyout menus under each section in the left navigation bar. The default display for each category
returns all of my images. The Search page also allows for images to be searched by date, keyword, camera
platform, or full text from titles and comments. The Search takes any string of characters so you only
need part of any word to return results. If you encounter any broken links or other problems with this
site please contact me.
